Blueberries!

Bella is a classic toddler when it comes to eating. Some days she loves something and the next she won't even consider looking at it much less eating it. Now she goes so far as to toss the food that she does not want to eat off of her high chair. When I sternly say no, she laughs of course! So the only food that she will ALWAYS eat are blueberries. Of course, as a nutritionist, I love blueberries since they are full of antioxidants and fiber. And, as a mom, they make for an excellent photo op when she eats them.

Right now some of Bella's favorite things to eat, depending on the day, are: brown rice, almonds, pecans, goat cheese, raw cow cheese, cosmic kale crunchies (dehydrated kale with tahini; although today they got tossed off the high chair!), "green" crackers (made from dehydrated suflower seeds and veggies), Mary's Gone Crackers, Annie's bunny crackers, cereal with almond milk (especially granola; which is unfortunately a bit harsh coming out the other end!), turkey, lemon/rosemary grilled chicken (only our recipe will do; all other chicken is looked at with suspicion and not even considered), salami (organic and chemical free of course), filet (only organic grass fed filet marinated and cooked by Mark, all other forms of beef are a no!), eggs (they must be varied in how they are cooked; sometimes scrambled, sometimes hard boiled/no yolk; and sometimes as french toast with almonds and blueberries), cucumber (once a staple, she now will eat it only sometimes and loves it with lots of vinegar), pickles, grapes, strawberries, bananas (especially topped with almond butter) and apples.

Some things that she will occasionally eat if enough time has passed: pasta with pesto (of course she likes Mark's pesto the best), peas sauteed in olive oil and Aunt Jane's salt, sheep yogurt, yams, butternut squash, broccoli, avocado, quinoa, tabouli (with extra lemon), tangerines and carrot.

Yesterday she tried her first veggie juice, a blend of celery, carrot, beet, sunflower sprouts, spinach and some other stuff and she drank all that I offered her. I guess I better dust off my juicer and make her some veggie juice as much as possible.

Also, she likes mint and echinacea tea. Whenever I make tea for myself, I must make it for her too. I think at this point anything is more exciting than water, since I don't give her juice.

So that is bella's food update. I know my foodie friends and family will appreciate the post!
